Group Swim Lessons

 

Group swim lessons are free for members. Each summer TSC has three sessions of group swim lessons. Each session lasts for two weeks and consists of ten lessons in total (one lesson per day, Monday-Friday).

Sign-ups for each session will be held at 12:00 PM on the Sunday before the session begins (ex. if lessons for Session 1 begin on Monday the 10th, sign-ups will be held on Sunday the 9th). There are 10 sign-ups for each group (three groups in total) and spots are first-come, first-serve. Please report to the front office to sign up; unfortunately we cannot accept sign-ups over the phone. If spots fill up, we will have a waitlist that you can get on.

Group Lesson Classes, Topics, and Times

​

Beginner 1

​

Topics Covered: dunking under water, blowing bubbles, touching the bottom of the pool, jumping off of the side of the pool, kicking on a kickboard, kicking on a kickboard while blowing bubbles, floating on back

​

Time Held: 3:30-4:00 PM, Monday-Friday

​

Beginner 2

​

Topics Covered: Everything in Beginner 1 PLUS freestyle arms, kicking and using arms (on kickboard), pushing off a wall and streamlining, turning head to breathe in freestyle

​

Time Held: 4:00-4:30 PM, Monday-Friday

​

Intermediate/Advanced

​

Topics Covered: full freestyle swimming, freestyle technique, breaststroke kick (with kickboard), breaststroke arms, kicking on back

​

Time Held: 4:30-5:00 PM, Monday-Friday

Group Lesson FAQs:

​

1. Is there a minimum age for group lesson participants?

​

Yes: three. Swim lessons are held in the main pool and since children must be three or older to use the main pool,  they must be three or older to participate in swim lessons.

​

2. I signed my child up for a group lesson last session and they want to take the same class this session. Do I need to sign them up again?

​

Yes. Whether your child is planning to take the same class again this session or if they are taking a different one, you will need to sign them up again.

​

3. Can I sign my child up for multiple group lessons in the same session?

 

No. Children may only participate in one group lesson per session (ex. a child would not be able to participate in both Beginner 1 and Beginner 2 in the same session).

4. What do I need to do to sign my child up for group swim lessons?

​

All you need to do is come to lesson sign-ups and write your child's name and your email on the sign-up sheet!

​

5. A family I know are unable to make it to group lesson sign-ups. Can I sign up their children for them?

​

No. As with sign ups over-the-phone, we are unable to accommodate this at the moment as it would be unfair to those families who came to sign-ups.

​

6. How does the sign-up waitlist work?

​

If a child who has been signed up for a lesson is unable to attend, we will contact you and your child can take their spot in the class for the session.

Private Swim Lessons

​

Private swim lessons (where a TSC lifeguard works one-on-one with your child(ren)) are not included in your TSC membership. Private swim lesson arrangements are worked out between yourself and the guard in question. For availability and rates please contact the manager at tenakill.manager@gmail.com.
