Letter from our President

Dear Tenakill Members,

In the nearly 60 years of Tenakill Swim Club’s existence, it has continued to remain a unique summer oasis in the rural and historic borough of Tenafly, NJ. Before the unprecedented pandemic, never a year went by without the joyful sounds of members, guests, and campers frolicking in Tenakill’s soothing waters and relaxing in its delightful sun and shade. Although Summer 2020 at the Club was untenable due to many unknowns not the least of which was an overarching concern for everyone’s safety and welfare, we are delighted to welcome everyone back for Summer Season 2021!!

First and foremost, we hope your families are healthy and safe. Following more than a year of being tethered to home, Tenakill is the “perfect tonic” to restore everyone’s physical, mental, and social well-being. With this in mind, the Board has been actively formulating a reopening plan to get everyone back in the “swim of things!”

We will be guided along the way by federal, state, and locally recommended practices to ensure a safe and healthy atmosphere for all concerned. While we are diligently monitoring and adjusting to this rapidly evolving health situation, please continue to check the Club’s website for updates.

We are fortunate to have an outdoor operation on a large property where we can achieve social distancing. Furthermore, we also have a skilled management team that monitors and incorporates best practices into our protocols. Our management and staff will wear personal protection equipment (PPE) for everyone's protection. We recommend that you do the same when you and your family members are not utilizing the pool.

We are also exploring the best ways to social distance and keep everyone safe. To achieve this; we may need to put time limits on daily visits. Remaining at the club from morning to evening might not be possible this season, as in the past. Let's err on the side of caution for the best interest of everyone involved!

Based on our registration to date, we anticipate that membership requests will be strong this year. Should that be the case, we may need to cap membership based on Health Department guidelines. We will extend priority to our existing members who renew before May 30, 2021. New members who wish to join will be considered after that date but should submit their application a.s.a.p. Via our website.

As we continue to traverse these uncharted waters, we remain dedicated to providing you with a delightful summer staycation, as always! We will update you as we know more.

We also recognize that some of you have faced health and economic impacts amid the pandemic. If you have suffered a job loss and a more extended payment plan is necessary, we will gladly work with you to accommodate your situation if you fill out this form by May 30, 2021.
