2011 Swim Lessons

Session I: June 27th - July 8th Sign ups begin on Saturday, May 28th at 1pm. First come, first served. Sign ups must take place in person. Beginner I: 11:30am - 12 noon Beginner I swim lessons are for the purpose of allowing children to become more comfortable in the water. These classes will focus on walking in the water, using the wall and/or kickboard to kick and do big arms, blowing bubbles, etc. Beginner II: 11am - 11:30am, and 4:30pm - 5pm Beginner II swim lessons are for swimmers who are just starting to learn freestyle and breaststroke. These classes will focus on floating, breathing technique, kicks, and strokes. Children must be able to stand independently in the shallow end of the pool in order to be permitted in this class. Intermediate: 10:30am - 11am, and 4pm - 4:30pm Intermediate swim lessons are for swimmers who are comfortable with freestyle and working on their breaststroke. The lessons will focus on perfecting these two strokes, as well as working on backstroke. The butterfly stroke will be touched upon, but will not be worked on as thoroughly as in advanced lessons. Advanced: 10am - 10:30am Advanced swimming lessons are for swimmers who have already completed all other levels of swim classes. These swimmers should be competent in freestyle, breast- stroke, and backstroke. Advanced swim lessons will focus on the butterfly stroke, as well as speed and consistency. Please note. A child must be potty trained before he or she is allowed in the main pool. Parents are not allowed in with the child during lessons, and a child will not be allowed the use of floatation devises. |
